Administration Building, Washington & Jefferson College

The Administration Building is a two-story masonry structure that was constructed in the late 1700s and the first building for Washington College. The college is now called Washington and Jefferson College and is the eleventh oldest college in the US. The Administration Building is listed with the National Register of Historic Places. We were retained to oversee the structures total restoration. Having been used as the President’s Office and Office of Development for many years, the building had been cut up and poorly kept. On the exterior, we refurbished the exterior masonry, installed a new metal roof that matched the original, and restored the original wood windows. On the interior, we designed a new MEP system, installed hardwood floors, upgraded the building to current life/safety and accessibility codes, and provided interior design services, including furniture, fixtures and equipment. We also restored the grand central lobby, previously cut up into communication rooms and the like, back to its original configuration.
